Effective Tutors

Grades K-6

100% free

Our tutoring is managed by a master teacher and educator with over 30 years of experience — and every tutor is trained and supervised.

What your student works on

Every student starts where they actually are, not where a grade level says they should be. Sessions are one student at a time, with the same tutor week to week.

READING

Decoding the word on the page

Sounds, blends, and whole words — until reading aloud stops being a struggle and starts being automatic.

COMPREHENSION

Understanding what was read

No skipped words. A student who can define every word in a sentence can explain the sentence back, and keep it.

STUDY SKILLS

Learning how to learn

How to look a word up, how to work through confusion, and how to study without someone standing over them.

How to get started

Every student begins with an assessment. It tells us exactly where your student is, so the first session starts in the right place instead of guessing. After that, they join tutoring on the regular days.

STEP ONE

Schedule an assessment

Saturdays · 12:30 – 2:00 PM

By appointment only. Call or email and we will set a time in that window.

STEP TWO

Come to tutoring

Tuesdays · 3:30 – 6:00 PM
Saturdays · 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Once assessed, your student attends on either day, with the same tutor week to week.

If those times do not work for your family, email us and we will set up a time that does.
